SAYA ANAK MALAYSIA

If you know me well enough, you would know for a fact that I was never one to care for politics. I never understood the significance of it, especially in my own life. That changed this year. Why? Because Malaysia has just had it's 13th general elections and did it go according to how I would have favoured it? NO. Which was so upsetting and infuriating that I must admit, I cried before going to sleep.

Where did this passion for politics come from? I WILL BE HONEST. It came a little too late. I regret not forcing myself to register last year, right after my birthday. I regret totally sidelining the importance of politics in Malaysia. I regret the fact that I couldn't be a part of the 22% of new voters this year. But, it's better late than never right? To care for the well-being of my country?

I love my country, always have, always will. I've always believed that I should be referred to as a Malaysian, not a Malay. I didn't know where I stood with this mindset of course, since not many people think the same way as an awkward female like myself. But during this GE13, today (8th May 2013) especially, I'm so lucky, seriously, to be exposed to an ocean of people that share the same amount of passion and love for Malaysia as I do. NEVER have I seen so many people yearn and fight for equality, for the abolishing of racism in politics and corruption in our country.

IT WAS AMAZING. For once, I felt safe in a crowd of people. It was also the first time that I felt like everyone had grown up, became civil and are actually looking out for each other. I felt like everyone thought the same way as me, finally. It was comforting and it was an unbelievable experience; soaking in the atmosphere and all!

And with this, I shall make a public declaration. I will register for the next elections. I will constantly update myself on the current happenings in my country. I will never forget to love Malaysia, wherever I will be in the future. I will never let my patriotism diminish ever again, and my passion for my country will continue to grow from this day onwards.

I AM A MALAYSIAN AND I LOVE MALAYSIA.
REFORMASI! HIDUP RAKYAT!

The husband and the (TRUE) 1Malaysia wives.

These photos do not do justice to the actual amount of people that were at the stadium. I could only fit like 1/4 of the rakyat into my little phone aiks.

And here we have the most heart-warming sing-a-long to our country's national anthem, Negaraku. I have never felt so much love from the rakyat, nor have I ever sung the national anthem with so much enthusiasm! It's a totally different atmosphere when you're singing along with hundreds and thousands of Malaysians. Wonderful!

SAYA ANAK MALAYSIA! UBAH UBAH! INI KALI LAH!
