So the pass 2 weeks have been hectic to the core. Why? Submissions submissions submissions. I made personal deadlines for myself, as I do every semester, just to relieve myself of the gan cheong feeling just before a submission. I hate panicking while doing work. It makes me so unproductive.
So I work, like I normally do, at my normal (fast, some say) pace. Then out of no where, my mother rings me up while I'm in studio and asks, "Do you wanna go to Dubai next weekend?". My face was literally like O_________O
How on earth could I say no to Dubai?! When will I ever go there again, if not for this trip?! So after much contemplating and random screaming at my group mates about whart I should decide on, I said yes, followed by many repeated, "What the hell did I get myself into?!". The worst thing is is that the week after, I had like 2 submissions and the week after that, another 3. So 5 altogether, and I ambitiously decided to try to finish all of them in 5 days.
Lucky for me, I had finished the lab report for B. Science ages ago so that's set. Whart was left for me to rush was Studio, B. Tech model, B. Science group report and Comics. Sigh.
I decided to finish my B. Tech model first. And I'm safe to say that I'm pretty pleased with it, seeing as I can't do much with the model, to be perfectly honest. My mom says my model is senget but I don't listen to her because she has no idea whart a column-to-beam or column-to-foundation connection looks like sooo ... ah well.
Here is my finished model. Not glamorous but I think it'll do the trick of letting me pass this subject. *fingers crossed*
Next was Studio. TO MY HORROR, I found out on Monday 18th June, that Internal crit session was on Tuesday 26th of June, NOT 28TH OF JUNE. I began hyperventilating at this moment because I had planned out my schedule in my head (to continue work after I got back from Dubai). But now, I have to be faster than usual.
So I rarely slept. And when I did, it was at 7 - 9 in the morning. Sketched my ass up, Auto the hell out of CAD, Photo like shit outta shop! I made the decision to avoid lecturers at this point because I can't see myself changing my design, seeing as I have too much on my plate. So I continued doing my design, with confidence of course. Hopefully it's good enough to get me an above average grade. *two thumbs up*
These are just a couple of the renderings that I did. I discovered the Fisheye lens in Vray Sketch Up! LOL! Fisheye frenzyyyyy!
I finished whatever I could for Studio and decided to bring my laptop to Dubai to finish up the layout of the board for Internal. So technically, I had finished Studio at that moment.
This is whart I submitted for Internal. Good enough, though I forgot to add my explanation for using perforated steel floors and am kicking myself on the ass for it. *facepalm*
Moved on to continuing B. Science. After so much energy being consumed by my brain and hands, I was literally gonna knock out any time soon. Reaching my peak of stress. It was obvious because I realized my right hand was showing signs of carpal tunnel; "string pulling inside my muscle" feeling. (My right hand is slightly better nao though). I called upon my wife Jas, to help me out with Comics. Thank goodness for having a graphics illustrator as a best friend. She helped me with the layout and I thank God she did! So that was done, while I was juggling B. Science.
Managed to finish whatever it is I could contribute to the report and handed it in to my group mate who (thank God) was compiling it all. And just like that, I had finished whatever it is I needed to finish.
I felt so ... relieved. I am so grateful for the will power that I have. LOL! Without it, I don't think I could manage. And so off I went to Dubai with my mother and my sister (only to have a bit of Studio work left to worry about in my mind).
DUBAIII! Whart can I say? It's a city of money money money. Nothing else. To sum up the negative things about the city, it's hot; could reach up to 50 degrees during summer, it's not a sustainable city seeing as air-conditioning is so desperately needed, buildings were obviously designed by engineers BUT BUT BUT ... SHOPPING IS HEAVEN. They're currently having sales so H&M, ZARA, EVERYTHING. :D And our Malaysian currency is slightly better that Dirham currency so we save quite a lot (especially on the things my mom spent on).
Relatively awesome trip. I'm grateful for having a mom who has such hospitable friends, who were nice enough to let us stay with them for the weekend, who drove us around the city for some site seeing and who fed us, A LOT. Haha.
On to the next adventure!
