March march march!

Haibou is coming!
I got back home from Shanghai yesterday afternoon (and got a scolding from my dad for not calling him after arriving - I honestly forgot because I was and still am tired). Wow was the trip fun! :D 4 and a half days of sheer pain, exhaustion and exercise (from walking and laughing - sometimes done at the same time). So marvelous.
Of course, this trip was utterly beneficial to me, especially because the pavilions I've seen can be potential inspirations for future projects of mine. So during this trip, I got to challenge my mind on how to analyze concepts and identify materials and whart their functions were. Even though it seemed like I was stoned most of the time, the wheels were actually turning in my head. Yeah yeah I R nerd. Which reminds me!

HAHAHA! AN A FOR STUDIO! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I'm so happy. :'D But next semester, I'm gonna try my best to do better. Aim higher, for sure.
Okay back to Shanghai. So many different feelings towards this city. I have experienced many things from this trip, and I shall list them out here;
1) The locals are extremely oblivious to their surroundings - peeing in public, not having locks for their toilets, screaming directly into other people's ears, pushing, shoving, fighting.
2) You must have stamina when in China - if you are physically weak, then walking/standing for 8hours straight, under the blistering hot sun and humidity, will literally make you drop dead and die.
3) The locals are horrible at speaking English, therefore, speaking Mandarin would definitely be helpful.
4) Being a tanned and non-Chinese person will make the locals stare, for real.
5) Shanghai makes good use of lights at night. Extremely gorgeous view of the city and has the most amazing and cooling wind blowing through our hair!
6) Shanghai is OVERPOPULATED. The crowd is RIDICULOUS.
7) Everything is cheap so don't get fooled by the prices at the souvenir stores. Learn to bargain bargain bargain.
8) The television shows are hilarious - there was a drama called "Handphone". LOL!
There are more but I don't remember and my list is just becoming totally random.
Anyway, the pavilions in the expo were pretty amazing. We managed to get into 5 pavilions; Spain, Luxembourg, Denmark, China and Netherlands. Spain and Denmark were my favourite pavilions - I was aiming to get into these 2, and actually got in WOO! Hehehe.

It takes 4hours to get into the South Korean pavilion. And to my disappointment, the Koreans did NOT use tiles for the exterior of the pavilion. Ergo, we did not enter the pavilion. BOO!
The Spain pavilion had a more interesting exterior compared to it's interior. Other than the giant baby, the exhibition wasn't as impressive as I expected it to be. The baby was creepy though, but in a good way! LOL. And the use of wicker on the outside of the pavilion was RADICAL. So fluid and rhythmic. Organic and unique too.

HELLZ YEAH. (Y)(Y)

Watch the giant babyh watch youh!
Netherlands had a great exhibition! Along with the use of a spiral floor and height, over all the pavilion was pretty great. A little random and looks kinda dodgy at first glance but still pretty coohl. We got a good view of the Seed Cathedral from the Netherlands pavilion too! :D

Woo!
The China pavilion had hundreds of other pavilions in it! Twas gigantic man, GIGANTIC. We spent about 2 hours in that pavilion alone, but I think it would take 4+ hours to cover every single pavilion within it. Luxembourg was alright. It's prettier on the outside. The exhibition wasn't that interesting but the use of timber on the inside was awesome. So dynamic!

Camwhoring in the China pavilion.
At the last minute, we (Hubby, Simba and I) managed to get into the Denmark pavilion! Other than the lack of air ventilation, the pavilion was one of my favourites. It had a great exhibition and their benches were like so coohl! They made full use of anthropometry. Hahahaha! I also liked the fact that you could see movement of the people on the inside from the outside through the holes of the walls. Play of light and shadow yet again. xD

BENCHES!

There was a fountain at the top of the pavilion. :D
Here are some other photos!

Ahhh the lights. ♥

The "Tony" pose.

The Water village that my mother loves so much. :D
